The 16th annual “Treasures in Miniature” show, opens this April, and we hope you will join us. Over 200 works of art by more than 60 artists.

MIVAL Gallery now has new lighting, and that new light is now shining on our 2026 Treasures in Miniature Show.  We hope everyone will visit frequently during the show’s two-month run, through the end of May.  You’ll find miniature art that’s perfect for every eye, heart, and home.

Our March featured artists are Rob Balfour with his unique wood tables, knives, boards, spoons, as well as Daniel Menenzes with his paper cut art.

Rob has been a woodworker most of his life. He opened a business about 5 years ago because he felt that his skills and designs would be interesting to other people. He now is mainly interested in creating unique pieces. Rob also is available to fix broken wooden furniture and to sharpen knives, tools etc. In addition to the creative process he really enjoys talking to people.

Daniel is inspired by his love of plants, nature, and design, focusing on creating numbers of vibrant plants, landscapes, and animals from paper and acrylic.

Abstract Acrylic Paintings

In my abstract art, I challenge myself to answer artistic questions in the moment without the pressure of a planned result. The abstract forms and flowing paint free me to step beyond the specificity and structure of craft and the frozen-in-time nature of photography (both long time passions of mine) and discover a kind of movement and experimentation that is different than in my other work.

Each painting is a unique journey — an exploration of artistic principles and an opportunity to discover new techniques and change approaches as I create. I begin with a visual inspiration — an item, image, or pattern, often something I photographed. I examine and reconsider the subject, framing and reframing it until there is a relationship and balance that I like. I commit paint to canvas without limiting myself to the parameters of the inspirational idea or image, but letting the process suggest new line and shape. From there, it is a dance, adding color, shape, pattern and texture, building new line, repeating until the piece says stop.

Colorful Ink and Pencil Drawings

“I have rekindled a love for watercolor painting after stepping away from an urban planning career. I continue to be guided by a commitment to document and celebrate PLACES, (Mercer Island, Berkshires, Southwest), for their binding and healing qualities. In these times, when it can be difficult to communicate different points of view, sharing attachments to place and people can be a way to build trust and bridge differences. I hope you enjoy my work.” Ellen Miller-Wolfe

We invite you to discover for Anne’s beautiful work.

Anne Kimble is a textile artist living on Mercer Island, WA. Her ongoing series of embroidered portraits, made with thread on linen, are an exploration of color, memory, and a search for connections between our selves and our surroundings. Her current series, “Visible Mending,” focuses on the structures and experiences that shape us. The goal is to allow these processes to remain visible and vulnerable, to honor and acknowledge the patterns and chaos that make up who we are.

We invite you to discover for yourself, Linda Lander’s wild, remote and reverent images of her art and adventures at MiVAL Gallery.

She transports the viewer into a connection with the vastness of colorful landscapes and the intimacy of the moments.

The result is work that doesn’t just show the places but connects you to them.

Our gallery exhibits contemporary works of both emerging and established artists working in various mediums including painting, sculpture, jewelry ceramics, encaustics, fiber arts and photography. We also have unique prints and note cards for all occasions.
The Gallery opened in November 2009 and operates in the spirit of a cooperative, offering members the opportunity to exhibit their work, as well as share ideas, work together, and teach. Our goal is to offer gallery space and visibility for MIVAL members as well as increase awareness and appreciation of the visual arts to the community through classes and demonstrations.
