The Mercer Island Visual Arts League supports the visual arts of its members and our community. MIVAL has been involved for more than 50 years creating community through the visual arts. We welcome all artists, all mediums, and all levels of interest. Monthly meetings with guest speakers are held each month. Special art shows such as Summer Celebration, Junior Art Show, and the Holiday Show as well as MIVAL Gallery, support all artists and their endeavors. Proceeds from these events support annual visual arts scholarships to MI High School. MIVAL has been a charitable organization since 1961.

Become a member of our creative community.
MIVAL was the inspiration of a handful of local artists in 1961. At that time they agreed to form a network of local artists to meet regularly to discuss art, show and sell their artwork, and to provide art demonstrations to members. For fifty years, MIVAL has continued to provide inspiration and support to numerous artists in our community. We hold monthly meetings with art demonstrations and the general public is always welcome.
We have painters, fiber artists, photographers, as well as artists who work in glass, jewelry, ceramics, encaustic media and film. We exhibit our work at the gallery as well as at different business venues on Mercer Island.
About MIVAL Gallery
The gallery opened in November, 2009 and operates in the spirit of a cooperative, offering members the opportunity to exhibit their work, as well as share ideas, work together, and teach.
Our goal is to offer gallery space and visibility for MIVAL members as well as increase awareness and appreciation of the visual arts to the community through classes and demonstrations. We also have an annual Treasures in Miniature Show which is an OPEN Call to all artists.
We exhibit the work of both emerging and established artists working in various mediums including paintings, photography, jewelry, fiber, encaustics, glass and sculpture. We also have unique prints and cards for all occasions.
While receptions are usually held on the first Friday of the month we occasionally have receptions on Sunday afternoons too. Of course things are a bit different this year (2020). Currently, we are open for business Wednesday through Sunday and look forward to welcoming you to our gallery. Until further notice, we follow strict protocols and all visitors must wear a mask and observe social distancing.
For future Gallery exhibits, classes, meetings and events see our Calendar.
Membership is open to all members of the larger MIVAL organization. Our goal is to offer gallery space and visibility for MIVAL members to sell their work.
